Due to COVID-19, all weddings held in Sri Lanka will be without the popular phrase, ‘YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDE’.
This has become necessary as the government hopes to curb the spread and the possible elimination of the deadly COVID-19.
As the government eased restrictions on gathering, grooms will not be allowed to kiss the bride during weddings.
Under the new guidelines, there should be no more than 100 guests, all of whom must stay a metre apart and wear masks, including the happy couple.
“Guests should not be allowed to kiss, hug or shake hands,” the latest health ministry rules say. “Greeting each other should be done without any touching.”
