NDC General Secretary and chest companion of the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, better known as Sir John, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has sympathized with the relatives of the latter.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia uncovered that he was overpowered with distress by the death of the previous NPP General Secretary, referred to all as Sir John.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia said that in spite of the fact that he realized passing would in the long run come, he didn’t visualize he would lose his dear companion in such a way, not to mention, the Coronavirus.
Addressing Accra-based Okay FM, the NDC master described how Sir John came to live with him while he grieved the loss of his mom and got ready for her burial service.
“…I was deeply touched when he (Sir John) came to stay with me for 3 days after the death of my mother… he could have stayed in a hotel when everyone else had left but he came to live in my house. We ate the same food and did a lot of things together. The Pentecostal pastor who presided over the funeral, as well as sympathisers who were present, were amazed by his gesture. That General Secretaries of the two rival parties would get along so well…,” Asiedu Nketia noted.
Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, reportedly passed away Wednesday evening at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness.
